WM1 combines a single barrier layer with a single layer of Acousti-Mat acoustical foam. When the barrier is applied to sheet metal, plastic or wood, the foam is exposed to absorb airborne noise. The barrier functions to both contain sound and clamp structure borne vibrations.

When the foam is applied to the structure the barrier is decoupled. The exposed barrier becomes a tough, durable surface with enhanced transmission loss properties. Often a facing will be laminated to the barrier to increase both durability and weatherability when used as a pipe wrap.

Additional Information

N/A When a 1/4 inch or 1/2 inch foam decoupler is incorporated WM1 is frequently used as a carpet underlayment. When moisture is of concern, as in the case of a marine or truck cab application, closed cell foams can be used.
